My Personal Christian Testimony 

 

While going through a difficult time in my marriage - just six months after saying “I do”, I started to become a bitter, resentful person whom I did not like.  I was hurt, somewhat depressed, and I was struggling.  This struggle would continue for 6 long yrs.

Being an artist, I was commissioned by a client to paint a landscape painting.  I stayed up late many nights to work on the piece.  At this point in time my husband had a job where he was working the night shift.  We had two adorable little girls, and in a year and a half from that point would have a precious baby boy.  Hence the late night painting schedule.

While painting, I had the television on for background noise.  That noise gradually turned into interest, and became the catalyst for the turning point of my life.

The television show that was on was ‘The 700 Club’, a Christian program.  I had never watched what I would have called at that time a “religious” show in my life.  They talked about something that I had never heard of – salvation through Jesus Christ and having a personal relationship with Him.

Night after night I continued to watch The 700 Club while I painted.   From this show I found out how much God loved me. I learned that since the beginning of time we have chosen to disobey God and go our own way – which results in separation from God and the result of unforgiven sin is death.  I also learned that God’s gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ.

Most importantly I learned that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the penalty for my sins when He died on the cross and rose from the grave to bridge the gap between God and people.  God provided the only way through Jesus, and I needed to trust Jesus Christ to forgive my sins and receive Him as my Savior, serving Him as my Lord.  And that’s exactly what I did.  I said a very simple prayer asking for forgiveness of my sins and asking Jesus to come into my life – I truly meant it with all my heart.

Everyone’s conversion is different, but after giving my life to Jesus I had an experience that’s hard to explain.  The only way I can describe it is to liken it to being totally immersed in God’s love and peace.  I now had joy that I had never known before.  I felt SO much love for people that I just wanted to hug everyone I saw and tell them about Jesus!  I felt that no matter what would come my way, it wouldn’t matter, because my Heavenly Father loved me and I could trust Him.

This experience lasted for several months and then seemed to slowly fade away.  I questioned “WHY”!  I wanted to live with this wonderful feeling forever.  I learned over time though, that after having this extraordinary experience of God’s love, that I could not go off of feelings to know how much God loved me.  He will always love me just as much – feelings or no feelings.  He said He will never leave me nor forsake me.

My life changed so much.  The bitterness, depression and resentment were gone.  I finally had true peace. Throughout the years since then, I have seen God do amazing things in my life.  I continue to learn and grow in my relationship with Him.  I am forever grateful!

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, I hope you will think about what you have read, take it to heart, and ask Jesus to come into your life to be your Lord and Savior.

God Loves You! He wants a relationship with you.  You don’t need to get your act together – just come to Him as you are.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life,  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”  John 3:16-17

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with your mouth one confesses and is saved.”  Romans 10:9-10
